Cortland, NY – Natalie Bartle turned in a very strong performance with a double-double including a game-high 21 points in a 67-53 road loss at Cortland in SUNYAC play on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland jumped out to a 12-3 lead just over three minutes in. Canton responded with a 9-5 run to get within 17-12 with just over a minute left in the opening quarter after a Sierra Pabo jumper.
- After more back-and-forth play early on in the second quarter the Red Dragons eventually pulled ahead of the Roos increasing the lead to 34-22 at the halfway point.
- Bartle led the Roos in the first half with 10 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Pabo supported the effort with five points, two steals and a rebound.
- Bartle stayed hot early in the third quarter scoring six of the Roos first seven points as the Roos trailed by 17 with 4:44 left in the third.
- Pabo cut the lead down to 10 (61-51) after back-to-back buckets with 2:10 left in the game.
- Cortland eventually pulled away winning the game 67-53 finishing the game on a 6-2 run.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- For Canton, Bartle finished the day with an impressive double-double turning in 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Pabo also had a noteworthy performance finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist. Abigail Rice chipped in seven points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist off the bench for the Roos.
- Jackie Funk led all Cortland scorers with 19, while Brooke Tillotson and Joleen Lusk each had 10 points.
- Canton had advantages in steals (10-9), points off turnovers (15-10) and were dead even in blocks (3-3). Cortland shot nearly 43% from the field and 29% from three, while Canton had marks of 36% and 25%, respectively. The Red Dragons controlled rebounds (39-30), assists (17-4), bench points (20-8) and had a slight edge in points in the paint (34-28).
