Murphy Leads Men's Golf at Clarkson Invitational

Potsdam, NY – Freshman Kyle Murphy led the SUNY Canton men's golf team with a round of 82 on Tuesday at the Clarkson Invitational at Potsdam Town & Country Club.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Murphy shot 10-over par in just his third collegiate 18-hole round. The round of 82 was his season low by five strokes to finish in a tie for 23rd place out of 40 golfers. Classmate Tyler Martin carded a round of 85 to finish in 28th place.
  • Kahontiio Lazore and John McCall posted matching scores of 86, while Brody Fuhrey rounded out SUNY Canton's 'A' team with an 89.
  • Kevin Perry led the Roos 'B' team with a score of 88 followed by Ben Wiley (90), Donald Cordova (92), Mason Dumas (95) and Connor Provost (100). Dylan Braswell also competed as an individual with a 98. 
  • SUNY Canton's 'A' team finished in sixth place with 339 strokes, while the Roos 'B' squad was seventh (365) out of the seven team field.
  • Clarkson's 'A' team won the team title with 292 strokes ahead of St. Lawrence's 'A' team (299). SLU's Sam Lyman captured medalist honors with an impressive round of 5-under par, 67. Clarkson's Eric Spoth was runner-up shooting a two-under, 70.
