Utica, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer team dropped a tight 2-0 contest Friday afternoon in the team's season opener against SUNY Poly.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- SUNY Poly opened the scoring at 7:10 of the first half, as Kate Donnelly outraced a Roo defender to the ball and chipped a shot past senior goalkeeper Skylar Williams.
- Senior Kamryn Barnes nearly tied the game on a blast from just inside the penalty box area, but the ball was saved by Wildcat goalkeeper Katie Bowers.
- Hannah Shipley put SUNY Poly up 2-0 at 61:07 in the second half, beating Williams to a loose ball and placing it into the empty net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore Chamonix Jackson registered two shots on goal for the Roos, with Barnes and senior Andrea Cary combining for one each.
- Williams finished the game with three saves while Bowers and Michalyn Fagan combined for two saves each for the Wildcats.
