HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
  • The opener on Sunday proved to be a pitcher's duel that lasted just an hour and 25 minutes. The third inning was the difference as Ryan Pelton singled home Quinn Hill and Pelton and Ethan Merone executed a double steal as Merone scored.
  • The Roos had three hits in the game. Rosado legged out an infield single in the third and Derek Maldonado and Eliezer Vazquez walked to load the bases but a strike out ended the threat.
  • Nick Barone singled up the middle to start the fourth, but a double play ball and strike out ended the fourth frame.
  • The Roos final hit of the game came in their final at-bats as Fuca singled with one out, but a pair of strike outs ended the game.
  • Ryan Pelton led the Wildcats with a pair of hits.
  • Andrew Soule threw a complete game for the win in the opener striking out eight and walking two in seven innings for SUNY Poly.
  • Hunter LaValley also threw a solid complete game effort for Canton allowing two runs with three strike outs and a walk in seven innings.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
  • Play was close throughout in the nightcap, which saw a bit more scoring. The Wildcats took the early lead plating an unearned run on an RBI single in the fourth.
  • The Roos knotted things at one apiece in the sixth when Rosado scored Nick Shoemaker on an RBI single.
  • The Wildcats regained the lead with when Parker Wing plated Lukasz Dubicki on a sacrifice fly to right and a second run scored unearned on an error.
  • Brandes tied things at 3-3 for the Roos in the seventh with a two RBI double to right field scoring Fuca and Danny Santana. Fuca led off the inning with a single and Santana followed with a double. However, Canton squandered an opportunity to take the lead as they were unable to get a runner home from third with one out.
  • The Wildcats took control of the game with three unearned runs in the eighth following an error and tacked on two more runs in the ninth for an 8-3 lead.
  • The Roos scored one run in their final at-bats, but a runner was gunned down on the base paths to end the game.
  • Brandes, Fuca and Rosado had two hits each in the nightcap with Brandes driving in two runs and Rosado and Frank Nieto one each.
  • Hill had two hits and two RBI for the visitors, while Carter Romansky and Brody Liddy tallied a hit and RBI each.
  • Jack Montanye picked up the win for Poly tossing seven innings allowing three runs with four strike outs and two walks.
  • Kayden Guerin was credited with the no-decision surrendering three runs (one earned) with two strike outs and three walks in seven innings. Michael Sandarr took the loss allowing three runs (all unearned) in one-third of an inning.
