Cobleskill, NY – Derek Maldonado went 3-for-5 on the day, but the SUNY Canton baseball team dropped the first game of a three game midweek NAC series at SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday. The three games of the series had been postponed from earlier in the month due to the weather.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cobleskill got on the board first with one run in the first and three in the second. The Roos got one back in the top of the third when Maldonado scored Nick Shoemaker on a double to left field.
- The Tiger bats exploded for nine runs in the third and added two in the fourth and eight in the fifth to blow open a 23-1 lead after five innings.
- Canton tacked on their second run of the day in the sixth when Shoemaker reached on an error that scored Edilberto Rosado.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Maldonado led the Roos with three hits and an RBI, while Shoemaker, Matthew Brandes and Tom Santo had the other Canton hits.
- Zach Ducorsky paced Cobleskill going 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI. Logan Firment had three hits including a home run and double and scored four runs while driving in three. Stephen Tejada, Samuel Gutierrez, Jesus Sarda, Dylan Pohl and Cole Platt all had multi-hit outings as the Tiger bats posted a season-high 25 hits.
- Jason Treffiletti picked up the win in relief for the Tigers tossing two innings of scoreless ball and was the pitcher of record after the starter didn't go the required five innings in a nine-inning game.
- Kayden Guerin took the loss surrendering eight runs with a strike out and walk in two innings.
