Lindsey Wunder combined for 12 goals and three assists as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-5 win against Plattsburgh State in their season opener on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was a low scoring affair early on as Caron netted a pair of first quarter goals, while the Canton defense held Plattsburgh scoreless to lead 2-0 after one.
- Wunder tallied back-to-back goals with the second coming off a feed from Sydney Dunn, as the Roos opened a 4-0 advantage just over five minutes into the second quarter.
- The Cardinals finally got on the board with 8:07 remaining in the second stanza.
- Canton caged back-to-back goals just over a minute apart as Morgan Montgomery found Dunn for a goal with the player advantage and Caroline Nappi followed with a free-position goal.
- Plattsburgh found the back of the net with less than two minutes left in the half as the hosts took a 6-2 lead into intermission.
- The Roos rattled off the first seven goals of the third quarter with Wunder, Nappi and Caron all scoring two each along with one from Montgomery. Canton took a commanding 13-2 lead before Plattsburgh added two late third quarter goals.
- The fourth quarter belonged to Caron, who outscored Plattsburgh's team 4-1 in the frame for the 17-5 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Caron led all players in points (8), goals (8) and draw controls (10), while Wunder tallied seven points on four goals and three assists to go with three draw controls. Montgomery registered four points on a goal and three assists and Nappi scored three goals, going 2-for-2 on free-position shots.
- Dunn chipped in a goal and assist, while Maddy Thompson caused a game-high four turnovers. Jadeyn Awan supplied three ground balls and three caused turnovers in her first collegiate game.
- Janey Adams paced Plattsburgh with two goals.
- Olivia Scott made three saves allowing four goals while tying a game-high with four caused turnovers to go with three ground balls over the first three quarters. Erin Anders made one save allowing one goal in the fourth quarter.
- Hannah Lowder made six saves surrendering 11 goals over the first 38 minutes, while Jess Loch turned aside one shot allowing six scores in the final 21 plus minutes.
