Davenport, FL – Eliezer Vazquez recorded four hits in a pair of losses to Mount Saint Mary College and the College of St. Scholastica on the Roos third day at the Russ Matt Tournament on Tuesday.

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Mount Saint Mary got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first.
- Canton got one back in the fourth when Vazquez scored after the Roos grounded into a double play.
- The Knights opened a four run advantage bringing three runners across in the bottom of the fifth.
- The Roos bounced back with four runs of their own in the sixth to knot things up at five apiece. Vazquez and Nick Barone opened the inning with back-to-back doubles as Vazquez scored on the Barone double. Derek Maldonado and Mike Henry followed with a double and walk and Barone scored on a wild pitch. After a pair of outs Frank Nieto came through with a big two out 2 RBI single to score Maldonado and Henry. Â
- The Knight bats exploded for 10 runs on five hits and six walks in the eighth inning to earn the run-rule win in eight innings. There is a 10 run rule after seven innings of play in the Russ Matt Tournament.
- Vazquez and Maldonado led the Roos with two hits each, while Barone and Nieto had one each with the duo combining to drive in three runs.
- Adam Leone and Ryan Lutinski had three hits each and combined to drive in five runs for Mount Saint Mary. Noah Anderson, Elijah Duprey and Chris Calvario had multi-hit games with Anderson driving in four runs and Duprey adding a pair of RBI.
- Peter Pappalardo picked up the win tossing 2.1 innings in relief for the Knights as he didn't allow a single hit and struck out three batters.
- Daniel Aviles took the loss for the Roos throwing 2.2 innings in relief surrendering four runs with three strike outs and four walks.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Saints got on the board first with a Levi Stubbles leadoff solo shot to left field in the second inning.
- Mitch Novak added a three run dinger to left in the third inning and scored another unearned run on an RBI double.
- St. Scholastica added nine runs in the fourth three in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh.
- Canton got on the board in the fourth when Nick Barone plated John LaPorte on an RBI ground out.
- The Roos added three runs in the sixth. Vazquez singled home Nick Shoemaker, Barone doubled home LaPorte and Henry plated Vazquez on an RBI single.
- Vazquez and Shoemaker led the Roos with two hits each and Vazquez drove in a run. Barone finished with 2 RBI for Canton.
- Six players had multi-hit outings for St. Scholastica. Mitchell Novak drove in five runs and Kyle Oswald and Jake Schelonka had 4 RBI each. Â
- T.J. Martin picked up the win for the Saints tossing five innings allowing one run on two hits with four strike outs and no walks.
- Maxwell Rose took the loss for the Roos surrendering eight earned runs with four strike outs and four walks in three innings.
