Goode Jr.’s 21 Points Leads Roos to Senior Day Win in Season Finale

Canton, NY – Kevin Goode Jr. scored a team-high 21 points to lead the SUNY Canton men's basketball team to a 72-67 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win on Senior Day on Saturday against VTSU Johnson.

The Roos recognized their four seniors Terrence Fields, Sammy Angelo, Zach Denesha and Brennan Harmer in a pregame ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Johnson jumped out to an early 10-0 lead just over two minutes in. The Badgers would extend their lead to as many as 11 (21-10) a little more than eight minutes into the contest.
  • The Roos used a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to just 23-20. The Badgers closed the final six minutes of the first half on a 10-6 run to take a 35-28 lead into intermission.  
  • Kevin Goode Jr. led the Roos with seven points in the first half, while Maleek View was on fire tallying 23 points in the opening 20 minutes for the Badgers.
  • Johnson led by as many as 12 in the second half as they led 55-43 with less than 10 minutes remaining.
  • The Roos took the lead with just over six minutes remaining in a back-and-forth battle before Canton pulled away late for the win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Goode Jr. led the Roos with 21 points hitting seven of his 10 shots. Jevonte Williams and Bryon Streb added 15 points each and Harmer stuffed the stat sheet with game-highs of six assists and three steals to go with five rebounds.
  • View led all players with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Gerald Pitt Jr. (12) and Mohammed Semega (10) also scored in double figures.
  • Johnson dominated rebounding 56-36 which led to an 18-7 advantage in second chance points.
  • The Roos controlled bench points (57-11) and points off turnovers (28-11).
