Buffalo, NY – Freshman Bailey Cote scored late in the third period to get the SUNY Canton women's hockey team within one goal but their comeback fell just short against Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon with the Roos dropping a 2-1 decision against the Bengals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Grace Zwolak scored a power play goal at 10:55 of the first period.
• The Bengals converted another power play at 7:48 of the third period when Vanessa Willick scored, with assists going to Zwolak and Kaydence Kemp.
• Cote's goal came at 18:29 of the third period as she tucked a loose puck from behind the net past netminder Jessica Auge.  Junior Danika Lalonde and sophomore Riley Andzel assisted on the goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Roos outshot the Bengals 38 to 13, Andzel had a team-high nine shots on goal.
• Canton was 0/2 on the power play and Buffalo State was 2/4.
• The Roos had a significant edge at the faceoff dot 39-19 with freshman Taryn Oloriz winning 15 draws.
• Freshman Alyssa Townsley stopped 11 shots for Canton and Auge made 37 saves for the Bengals.
