Canton, NY – Niko Schoner and
Michael Palandra scored back-to-back second period goals to give the Roos a 2-1 lead but visiting Buffalo State scored a pair of unanswered tallies for a 3-2 OT win against SUNY Canton in SUNYAC action on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State got on the board first at 13:19 of the opening period. Tommy Chunchukov picked up a failed clear attempt at the right circle and fired a shot under the arm of Roos goaltender Kelson Hooper from a sharp angle.
- The Roos held a 13-6 shots advantage in the opening period, but the Bengals led 1-0 at intermission.
- Canton leveled the score at one at 8:54 of the middle period. The Bengals attempted to clear the puck from their defensive zone. Adrian Franco picked the puck up at the left circle and found Schoner to his right as Schoner ripped a shot into the top left corner past the blocker of Bengals goaltender Marcus Cumberworth.
- The Roos took their first lead of the game at 11:06 of the second period when Cory Liu took a shot from the left point that was redirected in the slot by Jack Seamans and Palandra put home his first career goal at the right post for the 2-1 lead.
- Three minutes later Hooper made a great save on a quick shot off a faceoff win for the Bengals and Bobby Voss cleared the puck off the goal line saving a potential game-tying score.
- Canton controlled shots on goal 12-8 in the second period taking a 2-1 lead to second intermission.
- Buffalo State tied the game at two apiece at the 13 minute mark of the third period when Chunchukov scored redirecting the puck in the slot off a pass from Andrew Langlois from the right circle. Andrey Manov was also credited with an assist on the play.
- The Bengals had a 13-6 shots advantage in the third period as the teams would skate to overtime.
- Canton was whistled for a penalty with 40 seconds left in regulation as Buffalo State started the OT skating 4-on-3.
- The Roos had a pair of blocked shots as players laid their bodies on the line, but David Tolan scored the game-winner 1:11 into OT for the Bengals victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Roos held a 31-28 advantage in shots and dominated faceoffs 37-24 on the night. Both teams had 11 blocked shots.
- The Bengals were 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Roos were 0-for-3.
- Cumberworth made 29 saves in the win for Buffalo State, while Hooper turned aside 25 shots for Canton.

The Roos are back in action next Saturday (11/30) when they host Tufts University in the second game of the North Country Tournament hosted by SUNY Canton. Rivier University squares off with SUNY Potsdam in the first game at 3 PM. The losers play Sunday at 1 p.m. in the consolation game followed by the championship game at 4:30 PM. Â Â Â
