Fryfogle and Zotter Score First Career Goals for Roos

Reisterstown, MD – Freshmen Brayden Fryfogle and Nolan Zotter each scored their first career goals for the SUNY Canton men's hockey team, but the Roos dropped a 5-2 decision to Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mustangs opened the scoring at the 10:00 minute mark of the first period as Caden Smith scored his second in two nights.  Smith's goal was assisted by Jake Hugessen.
  • Aiden Graham made the score 2-0 Stevenson at 8:03 of the second, ripping a shot from the Blue line that beat the screened Roos goaltender Kelson Hooper.
  • Zotter got the Roos on the board less than a minute later, snapping a wrister off the pipe and past Mustangs goalie Jake Hugesson.  Zotter's goal was assisted by senior Colton Sipperley and junior Reilly McKinnon.
  • The Roos tied the game 2-2 midway through the third when Fryfogle took a pass along the boards from junior Scott Cremen and blasted a shot through a screen and into the net.  McKinnon earned the secondary assist.
  • The tie was short lived, as Conner MacDonell scored for Stevenson just nine seconds later.
  • The Mustangs received a power play goal from Jack Karlsson at 11:29 and an empty net goal from Matt Yeagar to close out the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • In addition to his first goal, Zotter led the Roos with five shots on goal.  McKinnon had two-points on the night for the sixth time of his career.
  • Canton was 1/2 on the power play for the second night in a row.  Stevenson was 1/5 on the man-up.
  • Canton won the face off battle, 43-31.
  • Hooper stopped 35 for the Roos and Hugesson made 29 stops, earning the win for the Mustangs.

The Roos host Framingham State University for a pair of weekend games on November 8th and 9th at 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively.
