Bengals Use Strong First Half to Get Past Roos

Buffalo, NY – Host Buffalo State scored five first-half goals to earn a 6-0 SUNYAC win against the SUNY Canton women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals got off to a quick start as Olivia Kilmer netted her first of three goals on the afternoon in the second minute.
  • Two minutes later Mackenzie Below took a pass from Eve DiCarlo to double the Bengal lead.
  • Kilmer buried her second tally of the game on a low shot into the left side of goal in the 14th minute.
  • Less than two minutes later Below picked up her first assist of the game finding Kilmer who completed the hat trick.
  • Buffalo State added a fifth goal less than 30 seconds before intermission off the foot of Sarah Merlo.
  • The Bengals tacked on a penalty kick goal from Kaylee Valentic in the second half for the 6-0 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Buffalo State controlled shots (33-5), shots on goal (19-2) and corner kicks (5-3).
  • Shannon Platt led the Roos with two shots as she and Kamryn Barnes registered a shot on goal each.
  • Kilmer paced the hosts with a hat trick, while Below and Valentic had a goal and assist each.
  • Skylar Williams recorded 13 saves in the loss for Canton.
  • Samantha Kaufman made two saves over the first 34 minutes to earn the win, while Addy Williams and Taylor Clisson finished out the game in goal not facing a shot attempt.
