Sullivan & Knowles Combine to Stop 12 Against #20 Cortland

Cortland, NY – Freshman Nolan Sullivan recorded six first half saves and senior Caleb Knowles recorded six more in the second half, but the SUNY Canton men's soccer team could not overcome a fast start by SUNY Cortland, eventually dropping an 8-0 decision to the Red Dragons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Aaron Moretta directed a header off a corner kick in just the third minute of play.  His goal was assisted by Stalyn Acosta.
  • Cortland scored three straight off the right foot of Matt Shultz over the next 20 minutes to take a 4-0 lead.
  • Moretta scored his second of the game just prior to the half.
  • The Red Dragons scored three second half goals to close out the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Cortland had an edge in shots on goal (20-1) and corner kicks (10-3).
  • Freshmen Brandon Ardon and John Bustamante each recorded a shot for the Roos.
  • Sullivan and Knowles each made six stops for the Roos while their counterpart Jordan Ott was credited with one save.
