Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team put on an outstanding defensive effort, led by a tandem of freshman goalkeepers
Nolan Sullivan and
Jason Vela, but dropped a 2-0 decision to SUNY New Paltz in SUNYAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bryan Lizama put the Hawks on the board in the 29th minute, gathering a loose ball in the goal area and chipping it past Nolan. Kieran Weber assisted on the goal.
- New Paltz doubled their lead when Tim Kane's shot was deflected by a diving Nolan, off the far post and just across the goal line. The goal was scored in the 36th minute and Colin Brant earned the assist.
- Nolan made two key saves in the final minutes of the first half to keep the game close.
- Both teams defended well in the second half and Vela made a number of acrobatic saves for the Roos.
