Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team surrendered two first half goals to visiting Bard College on Sunday en route to a 2-0 loss in their home opener. The second half was a defensive battle and a more even affair, however the Roos could not overcome their first half deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bard's Dylan Kotlowitz blasted a shot from just outside the penalty box at 10:53, beating Roos' senior goalkeeper Jason Meneses to open the scoring.
- Sam Gerber scored the Raptors' second goal of the half at 30:20, corralling a Henry Skeltis pass at the penalty arc and placing the ball just past a diving Meneses.
- SUNY Canton's defense tightened up in the second half allowing just one shot on goal. Junior Dylan Vanderpool had the Roos' best scoring chance, driving a ball into traffic at the 69 minute mark, but Raptor goalkeeper Gavin Hersey was up to the task, making the save.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Bard finished the day with seven shots on goal compared to the Roos' one. Vanderpool had the lone shot on goal for SUNY Canton.
- Meneses had five saves in his season debut while Hersey had one.
