Williams Stops Career-High 19 Shots in Last Minute Loss at Delhi

Delhi, NY – Junior Skylar Williams stopped a career-high 19 shots, but host SUNY Delhi scored with just over three minutes remaining to earn a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Broncos controlled shots (16-1) and shots on goal (10-0) in the opening half but a huge 10 save first half performance from Skylar Williams kep the game scoreless at intermission.
  • Williams continued her dominance from the first half making two more tremendous saves in the opening 90 seconds of the second half to continue to keep things scoreless. The junior made nine total saves in the second half, but it was Delhi's final shot of the day that made a difference.
  • With 3:03 remaining Shaniyah Myers fired a shot that found the back of the net as the Broncos eeked out the late win.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Broncos controlled shots (30-2), shots on goal (20-1) and corner kicks (8-2).
  • Williams made 19 saves in the loss, while Abigail Allen stopped the lone shot she faced in the win for Delhi.
  • The 19 saves by Williams are a new career-high and the third most in the D-III era for the Roos. The program mark was set by Victoria Hanna who made 22 saves on October 29, 2019 against Plattsburgh State. Kelsi Gilbert made 21 saves against Alfred State on September 12, 2015. Williams and teammate Emma Cahill have both stopped 19 shots in a game this season.
