Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer team opened league play Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 decision to North Athletic Conference (NAC) foe SUNY Morrisville.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams played a tight first half, each recording four shots on net. Senior Alexis Sullivan broke down the right side of the field and blasted a shot at 35:32 of the first but Mustangs goalkeeper Melanie Rott was there for the save.
- Morrisville broke the scoreless tie at 64:42 of the second half, when Laura Bedell chipped a shot that junior goalkeeper Skylar Williams was able to stop, but Brianne Barnes was in perfect position to send the rebound to the back of the net.
- Just over ten minutes later Jenny DeJung doubled the Mustang's lead, lofting a shot perfectly over Williams and into the top right corner of the net. The Roos were able to put pressure on the Morrisville defense and Rott over the final 14 minutes, but the 2-0 lead would be enough to close out the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sullivan along with freshmen Chloe Stretton and Maryann Durham led the Roos with two shots on goal each.
- Williams finished with eight saves, Rott recorded ten.
