Canton, NY – Samantha Dayter posted a game-high seven points and
Maddy Caron and
Lindsey Wunder combined for seven goals as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned a 12-5 win v. visiting Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinal playoff game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos dominated play in the opening quarter outscoring the Terriers 6-0. Casey Pelton got Canton on the board on her 16th goal of the season off a feed from Dayter just over a minute in. Caron and Dayter scored two minutes apart before Lindsey Wunder rattled off three straight goals with the hosts in control after one.
- Caron and Ava Reynolds caged back-to-back goals in the second quarter as Canton took an 8-0 lead into intermission.
- After holding the Terriers scoreless the entire first half Thomas got on the board off the stick of Mary LaRochelle with 10:35 left in the third quarter. From there each team scored three goals in the third as the Roos held a 11-4 lead after three quarters.
- The defense was strong over the final stanza as each team found the back of the net once leading to the 12-5 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayter led all players with seven points on three goals and four assists while adding four draw controls. Maddy Caron added four goals and Wunder had three scores, while both players picked up three draw controls each. Pelton and Ava Reynolds scored one each for the Roos, while Morgan Montgomery and Caroline Nappi supplied an assist each. Maddy Thompson picked up a game-high six ground balls, while Dayter added five.
- LaRochelle and Sage Brown paced Thomas with a goal and assist each, while Alia Chasse, Kristiana Washington and Emily Wallingford all scored once each.
- Olivia Scott made 10 saves allowing just five goals in the win. Lizzy Gotay made 12 saves allowing 12 goals in the loss.
- The Roos held the upper hand in shots on goal (24-15), ground balls (30-22) and draw controls (11-10).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos advance to the NAC championship on Sunday at 12 p.m. where they will take on Husson University who defeated Maine Maritime Academy 16-15 in Saturday's other semifinal.
