Snyder, Todd & Hewlett Record First Career Goals as Roos Close out Season with Second Shutout in Program History

Jay, VT – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team dominated from start to finish as they closed out their season with a 16-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road win v. NVU-Lyndon at Jay Peak on Tuesday afternoon.

The shutout victory marks just the second time ever the Roos have accomplished the feat in program history as they also shut out Green Mountain College (20-0) on March 24, 2013. Today's shutout is the first for Canton in the D-III era.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos took control of the game early on as six different players found the back of the net in the opening quarter as Canton led 6-0 after 15 minutes.
  • SUNY Canton would tack on six more goals in the second quarter with five more players finding the score sheet. The visitors would take a 12-0 lead into intermission.
  • After playing in goal in the opening half Hayden Todd scored his first career goal, Canton's lone goal of the third quarter.
  • Holden Hewlett and Nick Snyder both caged their first career scores in the fourth quarter with Snyder scoring twice and Todd picking up his first assist leading to the 16-0 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Snyder and Alex Jacobs led all players with three points on two goals and an assist each. Todd, Michael Newcomb and Austin Mesler finished with a goal and assist each, while nine other players had a goal for Canton. Overall the Roos had 14 different goal scorers in the game.
  • Jake Erskine picked up a game-high nine ground balls including winning four face offs. Devin Guerriero went 7-for-9 on face offs and Kyle Fingar caused a game-best four turnovers.
  • Hayden Todd played the first half in goal as he was not forced to make a save in the win. Sam Servati made one stop in the second half while keeping the shutout intact.
  • Matt McGeehan made 10 saves in the loss for the Hornets.
  • The Roos dominated shots on goal (26-1), ground balls (61-36 and face offs (14-4).
