Canton, NY – Nick Barone had two home runs on the day including a walk-off grand slam in the nightcap as the Roos split a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader handing visiting SUNY Cobleskill its first conference loss of the season. With the win today and other results around the league this weekend the Roos have secured a playoff berth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Cobleskill jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead on a Logan Hutter grand slam in the top of the first.
- The Roos got two back in the second on a Barone two-run homer to left field as he also brought home Alphonse Fuca.
- The Fighting Tiger pitching staff had a strong outing holding the Canton bats scoreless the rest of the way as Cobleskill exploded for 11 runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh en route to the lopsided win.
- Fuca led the Roos going 2-for-2 with a run and Barone had the homer, a walk and two RBI. Nathan Welch and Dylan Allen had Canton's only other hits in the opener.
- Hutter, Frank leger, Zach Ducorsky, Dylan Pohl and Stephen Tejada all had three hits each for Cobleskill with Hutter driving in four runs and Leger and Ducorsky three each.
- Devin Lewis earned the win for Cobleskill throwing five innings allowing two runs with 11 strike outs and a walk.
- Gavin Neuland took the loss for the Roos surrendering 10 runs with three strike outs and a walk in three innings.
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Roos opened up a 3-0 lead with a Derek Maldonado two RBI double and a Nick Shoemaker RBI single in the second inning.
- The Tigers tied things up at three after their at-bats in the fourth with a rarity in college baseball, back-to-back-to-back homers.
- Canton was quick to respond regaining a two-run lead in the bottom half of the inning on a Welch RBI single and a Fuca sacrifice fly.
- In an extremely entertaining game Cobleskill tied things at 5-5 scoring twice in the top of the fifth, but Canton took back a one run lead with a Ty Reed solo shot to center in the bottom of the fifth.
- The visitors made it 6-6 in the top of the sixth before taking their first lead of the nightcap with two runs in the top of the seventh.
- With one out in the bottom of the seventh Frank Nieto hit a solo homer to left to get Canton within one. Maldonado followed with a base hit to center. With two outs Allen kept the inning alive with a single down the left field line. Welch had a great at-bat fouling off three consecutive pitches with a full count before taking ball four high. After taking a first pitch strike Barone belted the second pitch over the left field fence for the walk-off win.
- Barone drove in four runs with a grand slam to lead the Roos, while Allen went 3-for-4 scoring twice. Reed and Maldonado had two hits each with Reed hitting a homer and Maldonado driving in a pair. Nieto also homered, while Shoemaker and Welch had a hit and RBI each.
- Matthew Snyder, Hutter and Pohl led the Tigers with two hits each and Snyder and Hutter drove in two each.
- Kieran Gibson took the no-decision tossing 6.1 innings with two strike outs and two walks allowing five earned runs. Danny Vargas earned his second win of the week throwing two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit or run.

The Roos are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Plattsburgh State for a single game beginning at 3 p.m.
