Kayden Guerin earned his first career win as the SUNY Canton baseball team took the season series earning another North Atlantic Conference (NAC) split at Cazenovia College on Tuesday.
The Roos won the opener 6-3 before falling 14-8 in the nightcap. SUNY Canton wins the five-game NAC season series v. the Wildcats 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Cazenovia jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opener with two runs in the second and one in the third.
- The Roos rallied with a four-run fifth inning. Nick Shoemaker singled home Edilberto Rosado and later scored on a Welch RBI single. Fuca reached on an error with two outs scoring Welch and Nick Barone singled home Allen.
- Canton added a pair of insurance runs in the top half of the seventh. Derek Maldonado plated Allen on an RBI base hit and Ty Reed completed the scoring on a single to bring across Fuca.
- Allen was a perfect 4-for-4 for the second time in his last three games scoring twice. Shoemaker, Welch and Reed all recorded two hits and drove in a run each.
- Cameron Ciampaglia led Cazenovia with three hits, while Brandon Reid had two.
- Guerin went the distance earning his first career win for the Roos scattering seven hits and three runs over seven innings with a pair of walks.
- Carter Matus picked up his fourth loss of the season giving up two earned runs with three strike outs and a walk in five innings.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Wildcats quickly seized the momentum in the nightcap scoring six runs in the bottom of the first.
- Canton battled back with three runs each in the second and third innings to tie things up.
- Reed tripled home Hunter LaValley in the second and Shoemaker roped a two RBI double to bring across Reed and Rosado. In the fourth Nick Barone belted a three-run homer, his second dinger of the series and the season.
- The hosts regained the lead in the bottom half of the third scoring once.
- Canton tied things up in the fifth frame on a Maldonado RBI single and took an 8-7 lead in the sixth on an Allen RBI single.
- The Wildcats once again used a big inning scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
- Shoemaker, Nieto and Allen had two hits each with Shoemaker driving in two runs and Barone three. Allen, Maldonado and Reed had an RBI each.
- Parker Wing had three hits for the Wildcats while Anthony Cretella, Jack Lees, Josh Martin and Ciampaglia finished with multi-hit outings for the Wildcats.
- Wing earned the win on the mound tossing 4.2 innings in relief allowing two earned runs with seven strike outs and two walks.
- Anthony Bocchino took the loss for Canton allowing five earned runs with a walk in five innings. Â
