Auburndale, FL – Nathan Welch recorded four hits and
Nick Shoemaker,
Edilberto Rosado and
Brendan Finnegan all had multi-hit outings but a late rally came up just short for the Roos in a 12-11 loss to Fredonia at Lake Myrtle Park in Florida on Thursday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning on a 2 RBI double from Welch scoring Shoemaker and Rosado.
- Fredonia scored once in the first and twice in the second taking a 3-2 lead headed to the third.
- Canton would add two runs in the third and fifth innings to open a 6-3 lead midway through the fifth. Welch scored on a wild pitch and Nick Barone drove in Dylan Allen on a sacrifice fly in the third. Hunter LaValley doubled home Allen and Finnegan scored Barone on a base hit in the fifth.
- The Blue Devils plated a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to knot things at 6-6 after six innings. Fredonia would open an 11-6 lead with a five-run seventh inning.
- Canton chipped away at the lead scoring a pair of runs in the eighth. Brone walked home Welch and then Allen scored on a balk.
- Needing four runs in their final at-bats in the ninth the Roos rallied. Ty Reed tripled home Frank Nieto, Shoemaker singled home Reed and Shoemaker scored on a Welch double. With no outs Canton had the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at second, but Fredonia pitcher Morgan Zientara was able to get out of a jam getting a pop up to himself, a strike out swinging, and a pop up to catcher to end the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Welch led the Roos going 4-for-6 with two doubles, two runs and 3 RBI. Finnegan, Rosado and Shoemaker all had two hits each with Shoemaker and Finnegan driving in one run each. Allen, Barone and LaValley also recorded hits with Barone posting 2 RBI.
- Alex Gannon led the Blue Devils with three hits and 2 RBI, while Garrett Stuckey and Ethan Behnke posted two hits and 2 RBI each.
- Kayden Guerin picked up the no-decision allowing three earned runs with three walks and nine strike outs in five innings. Michael Sandarr took the loss surrendering five runs with three walks and a strike out in one inning.
- Michael Byrns earned the win for Fredonia tossing 4.2 innings in relief allowing just one earned run with nine strike outs and two walks. Zientara was credited with the save tossing the final two innings allowing two earned runs with three strike outs and two walks.
