LoPiccolo Records Four Hits as Softball Wraps Up South Carolina Trip

Little River, SC – Angelina LoPiccolo had two hits in each game as the SUNY Canton softball team dropped two contests to Wilson College and College of Mount Saint Vincent, 16-2 and 8-0, respectively, on Wednesday.

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wilson scored five runs in both the first and second innings to jump out to a 10-0 lead.
  • The Roos would score two runs of their own in the top of the third thanks to a Caitlyn Reed single that scored LoPiccolo, and Reed would later score on an error.
  • The Phoenix tacked on six more runs through the third and fourth innings to extend their lead to 16-2.
  • LoPiccolo, Reed and Currie all had two hits for the Roos while Taryn Morrissey had one.
  • Paige Dill earned the win for Wilson striking out three and allowing five hits and a pair of runs (one earned) over three innings
  • Caitlyn Reed received the loss on the mound for the Roos giving up eight hits and 10 runs (five earned) while walking three in two innings.
 
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Charlotte Kelly allowed just three hits over five innings on the mound for CMSV while striking out two in the win.
  • The Dolphins built a five-run lead in the first three innings before Jocelyn Vega hit a two-run homer in the fourth to push the lead to 7-0.
  • LoPiccolo led the way for the Roos with two hits while Sophia Padilla-Gundersen had one.
  • CMSV would win on run-rule courtesy of a Madyson Epps walk-off.
  • Caitlyn Reed pitched four innings in the loss for the Roos, allowing eight hits while striking out two.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos will travel to Vermont on March 28th to face Castleton University in a doubleheader with games scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
