Currie and Soule Combine for Six Hits v. Curry & Keene State

Little River, SC – Mackenzie Currie and Priscilla Soule both recorded three hits at the plate as the SUNY Canton softball team continued its start to the season with two games vs Curry and Keene State at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on Monday. 

 
THE BASICS 

·      Result:?Game 1: Curry 11, SUNY Canton 3 | 6 INN.  Game 2: Keene State 15, SUNY Canton 0 | 5 INN. 

·      Location:?North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex – Little River, SC   

·      Records:? SUNY Canton (0-3) | Curry (1-0) | Keene State (1-0)  

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

·      Curry opened the scoring in the top of the first on a Taylor McDermott single scoring Emily Busssiere. 

·      The Roos would answer in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a Soule double scoring Currie. 

·      Curry scored two more in the second off a wild pitch and triple. 

·      A Currie double and Taryn Morrissey single in the top of the fourth brought the score back to 4-3. 

·      The Colonels capped off the scoring with five runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the sixth to earn the win in six innings. 

·      Sophia Padilla-Gundersen and Caitlyn Reed both added singles for the Roos. 

·      Hailey King earned the win for the Colonels pitching five innings while allowing six hits and striking out seven. 

·      Reed took the loss allowing 12 hits while walking four in five innings on the mound.  

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

·      Mia Ferry allowed just two hits through five innings as Keene State would use a hot start to take control early on.  

·      The Owls scored five runs in the first inning followed by 10 in the second.  

·      Ferry would help her own cause going 3-for-3, driving in two runs while Lilah Demmy had three hits and drove in three runs for Keene State. 

·      Currie and Soule tallied both hits for the Roos while Padilla-Gundersen drew two walks at the plate. 

·      Abigail Sawyer took the loss on the mound surrendering nine runs on ten hits over one inning.  

WHAT'S NEXT? 
The Roos are back in action on Tuesday when they face off with Mansfield University and University of Saint Joseph at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
