Caitlyn Reed both recorded a hit each but Keystone College scored 13 runs in the third and fourth innings as the SUNY Canton softball team opened its season at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Keystone tallied three runs in the opening inning off of three hits and added six more runs on seven hits in the third to take a commanding 9-0 lead after three innings.
- The Giants added seven more in the bottom of the fourth to push their lead to 16-0 and earn the run-rule win after five innings.
- LoPiccolo and Reed both singled to account for both Canton hits while Mackenzie Currie earned the lone walk for the Roos.
- Brooke Staple led Keystone with four hits, three RBI and three runs while Kabrina Birmingham added two hits, three runs and four RBI of her own.
- Clare Johns earned the win on the mound allowing just two hits through five innings while walking one and striking out nine.
- Abigail Sawyer took the loss giving up 17 hits and walking five in four innings.

The Roos second scheduled game on Sunday against Plattsburgh State at 5 p.m. was canceled due to severe rain in the area.

The Roos are back in action on Monday when they square off with Curry and Keene State at 9 and 11 a.m., respectively. Â
