Pabo, Dayter & Moore Carry Women’s Basketball to Weekend Sweep at ENC

Quincy, MA – Sierra Pabo, Samantha Dayter and Torie Moore led the women's basketball team as they completed a NAC weekend sweep  with a 71-67 win at Eastern Nazarene on Saturday.

  • Result: SUNY Canton 71, Eastern Nazarene 67

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lions held an early 10-4 lead four minutes in and outscored the Roos 18-8 in the opening quarter.
  • Play was much more even in the second quarter with the hosts holding a slim 22-20 advantage as they took a 12 point lead (40-28) into intermission.
  • The Roos dominated the third quarter outscoring the Lions 23-9. Six different players scored for Canton in the quarter and Moore hit a three in the final 10 seconds to give the Roos a 51-49 lead heading to the fourth.
  • The game was back-and-forth in a tight fourth quarter with the game tied at 62 with 3:05 to play. The Roos opened a five point advantage with 40 seconds remaining after a Dayter layup and Moore hitting three of four free throws.
  • A Lions three-pointer with 34 seconds left got things within two, but Pabo and Emma Perez both went 2-for-2 at the line in the final 24 seconds to seal the win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pabo led all players with 22 points adding six rebounds, while Dayter tallied 16 points and nine rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting. Moore tallied her first double-double in a Canton uniform with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Hope Aniceto chipped in eight points and Jayda Pina added five points and six boards.
  • Eva Graf led the hosts with 12 points, while Sabanna Berrios and Anaira Ayala registered 11 points each.
  • The Roos had a 47-36 edge in rebounding. Canton shot nearly 42% from the field, while the Lions knocked down 33% of their shots. Both teams struggled to take care of the ball combining for 56 turnovers.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday when they visit SUNY Potsdam at 5:30 p.m.
