Pabo and Aniceto Lead Roos Past Wildcats in NAC Opener

Utica, NY – Sierra Pabo netted a season-high 26 points and Hope Aniceto added 20 as the Roos earned an 87-52 win at SUNY Poly in their NAC opener on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos roared out to a 14-1 lead less than four minutes in and took a 27-5 lead after the opening quarter dominating the first 10 minutes of action.
  • Canton outscored the hosts 19-16 in the second quarter taking a commanding 25 point lead at 46-21 into intermission.
  • Canton continued to control the game throughout the second half outscoring Poly 41-31 en route to the convincing conference win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pabo led all players with a season-high 26 points shooting 11-for-17 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range. Aniceto tallied 20 points shooting 7-for-14 from the field and added a career-high eight assists to go with a game-high four steals.
  • Emma Perez registered a career-high 13 points knocking down six of her eight field goals and her only three-point attempt. Jayda Pina finished with 11 points and Samantha Dayter recorded game-highs of 11 rebounds and five assists.
  • Alivia Turk paced Poly with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Sophia Murray added 10 points.
  • Canton shot a blistering 57% from the field and 43% from three-point range, while holding the Wildcats to marks of 27% and 19%.
  • The Roos controlled points in the paint (52-22), fast break points (26-2), bench points (17-6) and points off turnovers (27-19).
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The women's basketball team has a quick turnaround as they visit Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
