Snook’s Two Goals Lift Roos Over Anna Maria

Canton, NY – Senior Desiree Snook scored two first-period goals that helped lift the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 6-0 victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Freshman Abby Tate opened the scoring at 8:12 of the first period, lifting a wrist shot into the top right corner of the net.  The goal was the first of her career and was assisted by freshman Kylah Small and sophomore Ashten Morris.
  • Snook scored a power play goal 14:22 of the first, backhanding a shot over the blocker of Amcat goaltender Gabrielle Gibson to give the Roos a 2-0 lead.
  • Snook scored her second of the game and period tipping a shot from senior Kamryn Barnes past Gibson.  Freshman Chamonix Jackson also assisted on the goal.
  • Sophomore Jayme McIlveen took a pass from fellow sophomore Sydney Valiquette in her own end and went the distance, putting the puck in the top shelf to give the Roos a 4-0 lead.  Sophomore goaltender Claire Noftell also earned an assist on the play, her first career collegiate point. 
  • Sophomore Danika Lalonde closed out the scoring in the second burying her own rebound, pushing the lead to 5-0.  Her goal was assisted by sophomore Kyra O'Keefe and freshman Jordan Caroccio.
  • Morris scored the lone goal of the third period, finishing off a rebound on a Small shot.  Tate earned the secondary assist, her second point of the night.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Roos outshot the Amcats 52-13 and dominated the faceoffs as well, outdrawing Anna Maria 31-18.
  • Canton was 1/2 on the power play and 5/5 on the penalty kill.
  • Small's two assists were the first points in her career.
  • Noftell finished the game with 13 saves and her first collegiate point.  Gibson finished with 46 saves for the Amcats.

SUNY Canton hosts Stevenson University next Friday, November 24th at 3:00 p.m. in a non-conference game at the Roos House.
