Aniceto, Bartle & Pabo Score 20+ Each in Road Win at Thomas

Waterville, ME – Hope Aniceto, Natalie Bartle and Sierra Pabo all recorded 20 plus points each to lead the SUNY Canton women's basketball team to a 93-64 win against host Thomas College on the opening day of the Charlie Ryan Classic on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  •  Play was back-and-forth over the opening four minutes of the game before Canton used an 8-0 run to turn a one point deficit into a seven point lead. The Roos closed the first quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 29-17 lead after 10 minutes of play.
  • The Terriers scored the first basket of the second quarter, but then the Roos used a 10-0 run that included eight points from Aniceto to blow open a 20 point lead with 7:41 left in the second quarter.
  • Thomas trimmed the deficit to 11, but the Roos battled back to take a commanding 56-38 lead into intermission.
  • The hosts never got closer than 18 points in the second half as the Roos lead ballooned to as many as 29 points, which was their ultimate margin of victory (93-64).
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Bartle recorded her second consecutive double-double in a Roo uniform tallying game-highs of 28 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. She shot 12-for-14 from the free throw line. Aniceto tallied 26 points shooting 8-for-14 from the field, 5-for-8 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
  • Pabo tallied 20 points, and three steals knocking down seven of her eight free throws. Torie Moore chipped in seven points and six rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench, while Samantha Dayter tallied seven rebounds to go with four points.
  • Yaribel Pena led Thomas with 14 points, while Samantha Fortin added 13.
  • The Roos controlled fast break points (40-8), points off turnovers (25-8) and points in the paint (36-28), while the Terriers had the upper hand in bench points (46-13).
  • The Roos shot 40% from three-point range and 38% from the field, while Thomas posted marks of 29% and 34%.

The Roos will square off with Colby College on the second day of the Charlie Ryan Classic on Sunday at 12 p.m.
