HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos dominated the majority of the shots and chances in the opening period, but back-to-back penalties proved costly as Cortland had one minute of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity.
- It took the Red Dragons just 14 seconds to score with the two-skater advantage. McKenzie Brown played the puck from right to left at the point to Molly McCabe as she blasted the puck in off the end boards as it ricocheted right to Fanny Aneborn near the right post. Aneborn buried a quick shot into the open right side of net for the 1-0 lead.
- The Roos were able to kill off the second penalty and despite facing a 5-on-3 in the opening period held a 14-9 shots on goal advantage after 20 minutes.
- Canton looked liked they tied the game just over a minute into the middle period when Chamonix Jackson played the puck out of the air and found the back of the net, but the goal was waived off by the referee.
- The Red Dragons doubled their lead at 11:23 of the second. Kait Bourgeois fired the puck toward goal from the right point. Mia Hlasnick got her stick on the puck at the right post as it found Jillian Hlasnick at the left crease with the net open as she finished off her third goal of the season.
- Canton continued to dominate shots owning a 23-7 advantage in the second period and 37-16 edge through two periods but trailed 2-0 on the scoreboard after 40 minutes.
- The visitors made it 3-0 at 4:43 of the third scoring once again with the skater advantage. The Red Dragons worked the puck from right to left as McCabe fired a low shot past the glove of Molly Lenihan. Brown and Aneborn picked up helpers on the play.
- Jackson nearly got on the board again with 3:02 remaining but the goal was waived off due to a high stick.
