Roos Open Season With Road Win Against Trine

Angola, IN – Sophomore Tilly Couture scored the first goal of the season for the SUNY Canton Women's hockey team and freshman Molly Lenihan opened her career with a 14-save shutout, as the Roos defeated Trine University 2-0 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Couture opened the scoring at 15:42 of the first period, blasting home a slapshot on a feed from freshman Jordan Caroccio.  Freshman Riley Andzel earned the secondary assist and her first collegiate point.
  • After a scoreless second period, senior Desiree Snook doubled the Roos lead at 5:05, picking up a loose puck just outside the crease and lifting it over the left pad of Trine goaltender Casey Frank.  Junior Halle McKinnon and Sophomore Kyra O'Keefe both assisted on the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Canton had a significant advantage on offense, outshooting Trine 43-14.
  • The Roos had a slight advantage in faceoffs 26 to 24.
  • The Roos were 0/1 on the powerplay while the Thunder were 0/2.
