Samantha Dayter nearly recorded a triple-double as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team cruised to a 63-31 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at NVU-Lyndon on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos exploded out of the gates scoring 24 points in the first quarter to take a 15-point lead after 10 minutes of play.
- The Hornets bounced back edging Canton 11-10 in the second stanza but the visitors still held a commanding 34-20 lead at intermission.
- Canton dominated the second half of play posting 29 points while playing stifling defense to hold the hosts to just 11 points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Munoz recorded her fifth double-double of the season on 18 points and 14 rebounds hitting seven of her 14 field goal attempts. Joie Culkin tallied 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Samantha Dayter nearly recorded a triple-double with nine points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to go with four steals. Emily Shook chipped in nine points off the bench for the Roos.
- Sage Smith (12) and Riann Fortin (10) scored in double figures for the Hornets.
- Canton had the upper hand in rebounds (56-42), turnovers (10-22), steals (11-2), points in the paint (40-8), fast break points (16-2), points off turnovers (19-6), bench points (17-6) and second chance points (15-6)

The women's basketball team returns to NAC action on Saturday when they visit Maine Farmington at 1 p.m.
