Joie Culkin combined for 33 points, but the SUNY Canton women's basketball team dropped an 83-58 decision to visiting Maine Maritime Academy in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Play was extremely even through the first 10 minutes of play as the Roos held a slim 14-13 lead after the opening quarter.
- With the Roos leading 20-17 early in the second quarter the Mariners went on a 16-0 run over the next four minutes to open a 33-20 advantage.
- Maria Barela led MMA with 17 first-half points, while Munoz and Culkin had eight each for the Roos.
- The teams were dead even scoring 19 points each in the third quarter as the Mariners held a 15-point lead after 30 minutes.
- MMA would pull away scoring 25 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Munoz led the Roos with 18 points and added five rebounds, while Culkin chipped in 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Hope Aniceto supplied six points and seven assists, while Samantha Dayter and Emma Perez finished with six points each.
- Barela paced the visitors with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting including a 5-for-8 mark from behind the arc. Lauren Plissey recorded a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds hitting six of her seven shot attempts. Evelyn Dagan (11) and Erianna Moore (10) also scored in double figures.
- The Mariners held the upper hand in rebounds (49-26), bench points (27-7) and second chance points (18-8). MMA shot 50% from the field and 46% from three-point range, while the Roos had marks of 36% and 19%, respectively.
