Strong First Half Sends Saints Past Men’s Soccer

Canton, NY – Jason Meneses and Ronald Zavala combined for 10 saves on the afternoon, but host St. Lawrence's offense was firing on all cylinders in a 9-0 win on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead behind a pair of goals from Marvin Sibanda and Sam Pijpers. St. Lawrence scored a pair of goals in a 35 second stretch and four goals in less than an eight-minute stretch in the final 15 minutes of the opening half.
  • The hosts tacked on three more scores after intermission leading to the 9-0 win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The nine goals tied a program record mark for St. Lawrence as nine different Saints tallied points.
  • Sibanda led the Saints with two goals and two assists, Pijpers had two goals and an assist and Max Mogul and Miles Levy tacked on a goal and assist each.
  • Agustin Nunez paced the Roos with two shots on goal.
  • Jason Meneses made four saves allowing six scores in the first half, while Ronald Zavala turned aside six shots allowing three goals in his collegiate debut in the second half.
  • Ben Woelfinger made five saves in the shutout for the Saints.
