Nunez and Randall Help Roos to First Win at Wells, 4-0

Aurora, NY – Agustin Nunez scored a pair of goals and Eric Randall registered a pair of assists as the SUNY Canton men's soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout win at Wells College on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos dominated play early on and that finally paid off in the 30th minute when Madrid native Brennan Harmer recorded his first collegiate goal, which was also the Roos first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner. Randall set up the strike from Harmer.
  • Canton doubled their lead in the 41st minute when Nunez converted on a penalty kick.
  • The Roos kept the foot on the gas pedal tallying another score before intermission just less than three minutes later. Nunez tallied his second of the game with Randall recording his second helper.
  • SUNY Canton led 3-0 at intermission holding a 10-0 shots on goal advantage.
  • Canton would tack on a fourth goal in the 76th minute when Carthage native Joey Johnson netted his first of the season for the 4-0 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nunez led Canton with two goals, while Randall had a pair of assists.
  • The Roos controlled shots (33-12), shots on goal (21-1) and corner kicks (11-1).
  • Johnston's goal was the second of his career, while Nunez now has five career scores.
  • Owen Kwong earned the win with a one save shutout. Sean Nemeth made 17 stops for the Express.
