Kwong Leads Roos in Road Loss to Russell Sage

Canton, NY – Junior Owen Kwong recorded nine saves, but three first-half Russell Sage goals led to a SUNY Canton loss on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • El Hadji Iba Sy scored just 2:27 into the first half, converting a long pass from Christian Vaalstuen to give the Gators a quick 1-0 lead.
  • Sage doubled their lead on a nifty move by Joe Pirperata who beat his defender inside and put the ball just beyond a diving Kwong.
  • El Hadji Iba Sy scored his second of the night on a header off a well-placed corner from Mason Kievit.
  • The Roos created several opportunities in the first stanza but had three shots blocked including a great chance by freshman Gavin Parker just as the half expired.
  • Canton had three shots on goal in the second half but were unable to trim the deficit over the final 45 minutes. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Kwong made nine saves for the Roos while the Gator's Jordan Prouty logged five.
  • Freshman Owen Lebron tallied two shots on goal for the Roos.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos will hit the road and play conference opponent Northern Vermont University – Lyndon on Saturday at 11 a.m.
