Owen Kwong turned aside five shots but visiting SUNY Potsdam scored off a long set piece in the 70th minute to earn a 1-0 win v. the SUNY Canton men's soccer team in the season opener for both teams on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bears held a 9-4 total shots edge in the opening half, but Kwong stopped all three shots on target as the teams played to a scoreless tie at the half.
- Total shots were dead even at five apiece in the second stanza, but the Bears broke through in the final minutes
- Luke Clark took the free kick from just inside midfield and found the head of Owen Santos as he headed the ball from the near post towards the far post and in for what proved to be the winner in the 70th minute.
- The Roos continued to push with three shots down the stretch in the final five minutes including a pair from Michael Gavette, but were unable to find the equalizer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Gavette led Canton with two shots on goal, while Chase Ross and Connor Kelley had one shot on target apiece.
- Kwong made five saves in the loss, while Evan Jacobs stopped a pair of shots for Potsdam in the win.

The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they visit Bard College at 11 a.m.
