Hoboken, NJ – Lindsey Wunder gave the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team an early lead but host Stevens Institute of Technology responded to earn a convincing 27-2 win in an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an early save from Madison Leary the Roos got on the board first when Samantha Dayter found a cutting Wunder to give Canton the lead 3:02 into the game.
- The early advantage marked the Roos first lead in an NCAA Tournament in school history across three total appearances between women's lacrosse and men's basketball.
- Leary continued her strong start stopping the next two shots she faced before the Ducks finally got on the board midway through the opening quarter off the stick of Maddie Schmidt on a free-position shot.
- After another Leary save Stevens took the lead for good when Morgan Westerby made it 2-1 with 7:38 left in the first.
- The Ducks would score the final 10 goals of the quarter and led 10-1 after 15 minutes of action
- The hosts outscored Canton 7-0 in the second quarter taking a 17-1 lead into intermission.
- Stevens extended its run to 26 straight scores before Maddy Caron broke the streak with an unassisted marker, her 55th tally of the season, with 3:13 to play.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Wunder and Caron led the Roos with a goal each, while Dayter had an assist. Maddy Weir and Leary led the team with three ground balls each, while Caron and Morgan Montgomery had one draw control each. Weir and Ali Servati caused one turnover each.
- Camryn Rogers led a balanced Stevens attack with six goals, Westerby had four goals and three assists and Zoe Cook finished with four goals and two assists. Julieann Murphy dished out three assists to go with three goals, while Schmidt had three goals and an assist.
- Leary recorded nine saves for the Roos finishing her career with 256 saves in less than four full seasons. Lauren Cunniff made three saves allowing a goal over the first three quarters, while Erica Strojny made two stops allowing one goal in the fourth quarter.
- The Ducks had the upper hand in shots on goal (36-7), ground balls (19-8), and draw controls (24-5). Stevens was 10-for-11 on free-position shots, while the Roos were 0-for-3. The hosts went a perfect 15-for-15 on clear attempts, while Canton was 11-for-18.
