Reyes Posts Three Hits, Two Doubles in Road Loss at St. Lawrence

Canton, NY – Noah Reyes went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles to lead the SUNY Canton baseball team, but St. Lawrence scored 10 runs over the first five innings to earn an 11-7 win on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got on the board first in the opening inning when Noah Reyes drove in Dyllon Bougor with his first double of the afternoon.
  • The Saints responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, added three in the second and one in the third to open up a 6-1 lead after three innings.
  • Alphonse Fuca and Nick Shoemaker tallied back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth scoring Zach Miner and Kevin Kapfer, respectively, to get within three.
  • The Saints added on two more runs each in the fourth and fifth to extend the lead to 10-3.
  • The Roos added three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth with the Saints scoring once in the seventh for the 11-7 final.
  • Miner drove in two runs in the seventh on an RBI single and Jesus Garcia scored Miner after reaching on an error. Reyes scored for a second time on a wild pitch in the eighth.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Reyes went 3-for-5 with two runs and drove in a run, while Miner was 2-for-4 with two runs and 2 RBI. Kapfer finished 2-for-3 with a run and walk. Fuca and Shoemaker both finished 2-for-4 with an RBI each.
  • Nicholas Butler led the Saints going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
  • Ethan Baldwin earned the win for St. Lawrence tossing the first inning giving up one run. Nine different pitchers threw one inning each for the Saints in the non-conference game.
  • Ty Reed took the loss for the Roos allowing two earned runs in two innings.
     
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are scheduled to open North Atlantic Conference action this weekend when they visit Cazenovia College.
