Softball Closes out Florida Trip v. Thoroughbreds & Yellowjackets

Fort Myers, FL – Selena Tasli had a pair of hits but strong pitching and explosive offense led Skidmore College and Wisconsin-Superior to a pair of wins as the SUNY Canton softball team closed out its Florida spring break trip on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
  • Skidmore scored a pair of runs on a 2 RBI single in the opening inning. They would add three runs in the third on a solo homer and two more RBI base hits.
  • The Thoroughbreds put the game away with a five run fourth inning scoring twice on a double before concluding their scoring with a bases loaded triple.
  • Hannah Davis tossed a one hit shutout for Skidmore allowing one hit with six strike outs and one walk in five innings.
  • Tasli broke up the no hitter in the fifth inning legging out an infield single to shortstop.
  • Davis helped her own cause going 2-for-3 with two hits and driving in a run. Bernie Berner went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI and Kaitlyn Judd was 2-for-2 with two runs while driving in a pair of runs for Skidmore.
 
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
  • The Yellowjacket bats jumped all over the Roos with eight runs in the opening inning, added three in the second, one in the third and seven in the fourth in a convincing win in the nightcap.
  • Tasli, Angelina LoPiccolo and Abigail Sawyer had hits for the Roos.
  • Wisconsin Superior had 19 runs on 16 hits driving in 16 runs while drawing nine walks.
  • Allison Luoma threw a complete game three hitter with six strike outs.
  • Alaina Beane took the loss for Canton allowing 17 runs in 3.1 innings with four strike outs and seven walks.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
This concludes the Roos Florida trip as they are back in action on Sunday March 27th when they visit St. Lawrence for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
