Allen Records Two Hits as Curry Uses Late Rally for 5-3 Win

Auburndale, FL – Dylan Allen had a pair of hits but Curry College used a five run eighth inning to earn a 5-3 win v. the SUNY Canton baseball team on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game was a pitcher's duel early on with the teams combining for just five hits through the opening five innings.
  • The Roos did the first damage offensively in the sixth inning. Frank Nieto drew a leadoff walk and Nick Shoemaker legged out a bunt single advancing Nieto to third. After Shoemaker stole second Allen reached base on another walk.
  • Zach Miner brought home Nieto on a sac fly to right. Shoemaker would later score on a wild pitch and Alphonse Fuca singled to right to bring in Allen.
  • Curry struck for five runs in the eighth inning which proved to be the difference. The Colonels had just one hit in the inning but the Roos walked five straight batters.
  • Canton went down in order in the top of the ninth as Curry earned the two run win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Allen led the Roos with two hits and a walk scoring oce. Fuca, Shoemaker and Noah Reyes also recorded hits.
  • Gavin Neuland threw six innings of scoreless ball allowing just three hits with four strike outs and three walks.
  • Jackson Troiano took the loss on the mound pitching one inning while walking four and striking out two giving up four earned runs.
  • Jared Keller earned the win for Curry tossing one inning without allowing a hit and striking out one.
  • Brett Heggs paced the Colonels with two hits.

The baseball team is back in action on Friday when they meet SUNY Brockport at 9:30 a.m.
