Jackson Troiano threw a complete game as the SUNY Canton baseball team earned a 4-3 win in the nightcap to earn a Sunday split against Minnesota Morris to open their spring break trip on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The opener proved to be a pitcher's duel between Kieran Gibson and Jacob Schaaf as the starters combined to give up just one run through four innings.
- The Cougars got on the board first with one run in the top of the first. That would be all the scoring through four innings, but Minnesota Morris added two runs in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh to secure the win.
- Schaaf took the win allowing one hit with six strike outs and a walk in five innings. Colin Lindgren threw two innings of relief surrendering a hit and three fanned batters.
- Gibson was credited with the loss allowing four earned runs with six strike outs and two walks in six innings.
- Alex Baumann and Tyler Scheler led the Cougars with two hits each and Scheler drove in a pair of runs.
- Don Louis Rodriguez and Ty Reed had the lone hits for Canton with Reed also drawing a free pass in three plate appearances.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Roos turned the tides in the nightcap jumping out to a quick lead on a 2 RBI triple in the top of the first off the bat of Miner as he brough home Dylan Allen and Rodriguez.
- Miner reached on an error to left in the third plating Dyllon Bougor extending the Canton lead to three.
- The Cougars knotted the game at 3-3 with a pair of triples in the fourth inning.
- The Roos brought what proved to be the game-winning run across in the sixth on a Noah Reyes RBI single up the middle to bring home Seth Gilbert, who opened the inning with a leadoff walk. He moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jesus Garcia.
- Jackson Troiano picked up the win tossing a complete game allowing three runs with three strike outs.
- Cole Mammenga took the loss allowing a run with a walk and strike out in two innings.
- Bougor led the way with two hits, while Miner drove in a pair of runs.
