Wellesley, MA – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team outscored host Wellesley by 16 points in the second half to earn a 47-40 non-conference road victory on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams came out slow offensively with the Roos owning a 9-6 advantage after the first quarter.
- The Blue controlled play in the second quarter 15-3 to take a 21-12 lead into intermission. Samantha Dayter led the Roos with five points in the first half, while Jiyun Chae had 11 points for the hosts.
- Canton battled back with a strong third quarter outscoring the Blue 17-8 to knot things up at 29 apiece after 30 minutes of play. Hope Aniceto led the Roos with six points as four different Canton players scored in the frame.
- The Blue led by four early in the fourth quarter (35-31), but the Roos rattled off a 12-0 run that was started by a pair of Sophia Munoz buckets. Aniceto and Joie Culkin hit three-pointers bookended around a pair of Jayda Pina free throws as Canton owned an eight-point lead with less than four minutes to play and held on down the stretch for a victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Munoz and Aniceto led the Roos with 11 points each and combined for nine rebounds, while Culkin tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Dayter chipped in with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Chae led all scorers for the Blue with 20 points and added a game-best six steals.
- The Roos dominated rebounds (51-30) and turned 18 offensive rebounds into 12 second chance points.
- Both teams struggled to take care of the ball combining for 48 turnovers. Wellesley had 17 steals which led to 12 points off turnovers.
