Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team set a new single-game program scoring mark on its way to a 94-28 win v. Paul Smith's in both team's season opener on Tuesday evening. The 94 points is the most for the Roos in the D-III era and at least the last 13 seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Paul Smith's scored the first two points of the game, but it was all Roos from there as they outscored the Bobcats 19-3 the remainder of the opening quarter.
- Canton continued to control play in the second stanza outscoring the visitors 21-9 to take a 40-14 lead into intermission.
- The Roos used their depth to run up and down against Paul Smith's, who was playing on Tuesday with just five players as some of their multi-sport athletes were still completing their fall seasons.
- Canton outscored Paul Smith's by a remarkable 34-2 margin in the third quarter, as the Bobcats had a player injured and needed to play with four players for five minutes of action.
- SUNY Canton's reserves continued to be effective scoring 20 points in the final 20 minutes of action for the 94-28 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Roos previous high mark of 90 points came in a 90-26 win at Wells on January 25, 2022.
- Six players reached double figures in scoring for Canton as all 12 players that saw action in the game scored and made a basket from the field.
- Hayleigh Armstrong led the Roos offensively as she was 6-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range in just 14 minutes of action. Emily Shook dropped in 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting to go with five assists, four rebounds and three steals in her collegiate debut.
- Sophia Munoz posted a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds in 17 minutes of action in her first collegiate game. Hope Aniceto also had an impressive debut with 11 points and five assists.
- Samantha Dayter and Autumn Kunes chipped in 10 points apiece with Dayter adding five assists and five steals.
- Canton had just 10 turnovers and recorded 17 steals while forcing the Bobcats into 27 turnovers. The Roos finished with 27 assists on 40 made field goals tying a D-III era program record set when they had 27 assists on February 7, 2016 against Vermont Tech. The Roos held the upper hand in rebounds (52-28), points off turnovers (42-2), points in the paint (52-4), second chance points (19-3) and fast break points (22-0).
- Grace Honan led the Bobcats with 10 points, while Holly Bagley finished with nine.
