Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team and Head Coach
Dylan Seikel have released the team's 2022-23 schedule. The Roos currently have a 24-game regular season schedule that includes 10 home games and a Division I exhibition.
The team's slate includes 14 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contests with two games each against the other five NAC West opponents with four crossover contests against NAC East foes.
After one scrimmage, the Roos open the regular season on November 8th when they host Paul Smith's College. The team will take part in a tip-off tournament co-hosted by Alfred and Alfred State with the Roos playing Alfred University at Alfred State on Friday (11/11) and taking on Alfred State on Saturday (11/12) at Alfred University.
The teams next three games see them square off with the other three St. Lawrence County schools over a five day stretch as the Roos host Clarkson (11/18) and St. Lawrence (11/19) before making the short trip up Rt. 11 to visit SUNY Potsdam (11/22).
The Roos final tune-up before conference play begins is a trip to the Harold J. Brodie Tournament hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology. Canton takes on host RIT (11/26) before facing either Hamilton or LaRoche in the consolation or championship game (11/27).
NAC play kicks off in early December with road games at SUNY Poly (12/2) and Cazenovia (12/3). Canton closes out the first semester with home conference tilts v. SUNY Cobleskill (12/10) and SUNY Delhi (12/11).
The Roos, who play 15 competitions in the 2022 portion of the schedule, square off with NCAA Division I foe University at Buffalo in a road exhibition on December 21st. The team closes out 2022 at the Medgar Evers Tournament on December 29th and 30th. Canton plays the host Cougars on Thursday taking on either St. John Fisher or Misericordia in the consolation or championship the following day.
All of the team's 10 contests in 2023 are conference games. They return to league play with NAC East crossover games at NVU-Lyndon (1/6) and Maine Farmington (1/7) before hosting two more NAC East contests against Maine Maritime (1/13) and Thomas (1/14).
The Roos final six games of the season feature three home games against Cazenovia (1/27), SUNY Poly (1/28) and NVU-Johnson (2/4) and three road tilts at NVU-Johnson (1/21), SUNY Delhi (2/10) and SUNY Cobleskill (2/11).
Following the regular season, the Roos will look to qualify for their fourth consecutive NAC Tournament after earning the program's first NAC Championship following the 2019-20 season. The top seed in each division (NAC West/East) will host the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds on February 17th and 18th. The winner of that weekend will advance to the NAC championship game (West winner v. East Winner) on February 25th.
