Ronald Zavala stopped eight of the nine shots he faced after intermission, but the SUNY Canton men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Plattsburgh State in non-conference action on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals wasted no time getting on the board in the 7th minute. Andrew Braverman played a nice pass to Brian Coughlan in the middle. He quickly beat a defender dribbling to his left and fired a left-footed shot into the top left for the early lead.
- Less than two minutes later Couglan had another great scoring chance but Owen Kwong stopped his shot from point-blank range.
- Coughlan added his second tally of the game scoring in the 14th minute off a free kick from long range finishing into the top left corner once again.
- Plattsburgh tacked on a third goal in the 23rd minute when Juan Velez's shot from 20 yards out redirected off a Canton defender as the momentum of the shot carried it into the goal.
- The Cardinals held an 8-1 shots on goal advantage taking a three-goal lead to intermission.
- Coughlan completed the hat trick with a penalty kick goal in the 83rd minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Coughlan led the Cardinals with three goals, while Velez tallied one.
- Joey Johnston, Michael Gavette and Hunter LaValley had shots on goals for the Roos.
- The Cardinals held the upper hand in shots (28-6), shots on goal (17-3) and corner kicks (5-0).
- Kwong made four saves in the first half allowing three goals, while Zavala turned aside eight shots surrendering one goal after intermission.
- Teddy Healy made three saves in the shutout for the Cardinals.
