Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team played an extremely even match with visiting St. Lawrence University on Wednesday evening as a second half strike off a quick throw proved to be the difference maker in a 1-0 defeat.
THE BASICS

- Location: SUNY Canton Turf – Canton, NYÂ

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miles Levy broke a scoreless tie early in the 58th minute off a quick throw-in from the Saints. Sam Peacock threw the ball in just on the St. Lawrence side of midfield and Robert Reynolds flicked a header forward as Levy was in on the break. Levy chested the ball forward, touched it once with his right foot, and buried a left-footed shot into the right side of the net. That lone play proved to be the difference on a night that saw each team register three shots on target.
- The first half was a defensive battle that saw each team generate just one shot on target. The Saints came from Reynolds, while Martin Torales challenged St. Lawrence keeper George Charalambous. The Saints did hit the cross bar on a Max Mogul shot nine minutes into the game, but the teams played to a 0-0 tie at intermission.
- Brandon McCorriston placed a shot on target early in the second half but it was the Saints who struck first.
- The Roos made a late push for the equalizer with some strong scoring chances. With 3:22 left in regulation Ellis Sanchez had a free kick just outside the box, but fired the ball high over the net.
- Moments later Agustin Nunez raced down the right side and placed a beautiful cross to the left post looking for a cutting Chase Ross. The ball was just outside of the reach of Ross as the Saints held on for the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The teams were even as each team finished with three shots on goal. The Roos held the upper hand in corner kicks, 3-1, while St. Lawrence committed six more fouls (16-10).
- Owen Kwong finished with two saves in goal for the Roos, while Charalambous turned aside three shots for the Saints.
