HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Canton jumped out to an early lead in the eighth minute on Conner Morse's first goal of the season. Agustin Nunez made a quick pass back to Morse who ripped a shot from 30 yards out into the lower left corner of the net past Express keeper Colton Jaquith.
- Six minutes later Nunez found the back of the net as he sped past a defender beating Jaquith near post to double the advantage.
- In the 19th minute Will Austin and Dzihad Cecunjanin executed a nice give-and-go as Austin finished a left-footed shot inside the left post for his first goal of the season.
- Eleven minutes later Ellis Sanchez tallied his team-leading fifth marker of the season. Evan Petersen collected the ball in the box and played it back to Jason Hernandez. The defender settled and played great service to Sanchez at the far post as he headed home his 10th career goal.
- The Roos extended their lead to five goals in the 35th minute on Petersen's first collegiate goal. Joey Johnston played a ball back to Brandon McCorriston who delivered a ball into the box. The ball bounced once and Petersen headed it into the back of the net just before colliding with the Express keeper. Canton took a 5-0 lead into intermission.
- The hosts extended their lead to six when Van Moussavou recorded his first collegiate goal in the 60th minute. Dylan Vanderpool played a ball that made its way all the way across the box from left to right to Hernandez. Hernandez chipped a pass into Moussavou in the center of the box. He settled the ball and evaded a defender as he lifted a left-footed shot into the top left corner.
- The Roos extended the lead to 7-0 in the 79th minute scoring on a Wells own-goal. Brendan Padgett carried the ball into the box nicely getting tripped up just inside the box. Canton played on and Chase Ross ripped a hard cross into the box that redirected off a Wells defender and into the net.
- Canton concluded the scoring five minutes later when Ross took advantage of an Express defensive miscue. The ball deflected off a pair of Wells defenders right to Ross who buried a shot inside the left post for the 8-0 final.
