Canton, NY – SUNY Canton President Dr. Zvi Szafran recently announced SUNY Canton Fitness Center Director 
Bryan Parker has been awarded the 2021 President's Meritorious Service Award.
 
In addition to Parker winning the highly prestigious award, faculty member and Associate Professor of Business and Liberal Arts Dr. Marela Fiacco was recognized.
 
Dr. Szafran also added three special President's Meritorious Service Award recipients this year in Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students Courtney B. Bish, Executive Director for University Relations Lenore VanderZee and Coordinator for Online Student Engagement R.J. Thayer. The trio developed and led SUNY Canton's COVID testing process and ensured that campus would remain safe for all faculty, staff and students during the 2020-21 school year.
 
Parker just finished his ninth year as Fitness Center Director and also oversees the pool and intramurals. He is a volunteer assistant men's hockey coach leading their strength and conditioning efforts. He has previously assisted with both the men's and women's cross country programs as well as the men's soccer team. Parker also helps numerous other teams in planning and implementing their strength and conditioning programs. Before transitioning to his current position in the CARC, Parker spent three years as a senior counselor of admissions at SUNY Canton.
 
This year Parker served as a co-chair for the SUNY Canton Athletic department's fundraising committee. He helped spearhead SUNY Canton's first ever Athletics Giving Week which crushed expectations 
raising more than $80,000 with nearly 800 unique donors contributing.
