Watertown, NY – Zach Miner went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs in the opener and
Don Louis Rodriguez hit a three-run walk-off homer as the SUNY Canton baseball team split a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games with SUNY Poly on Tuesday at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds.
The Roos won the opener 9-6 on Rodriguez's walk-off in a game that was resumed from last Thursday. SUNY Poly took the second contest and first full seven-inning game on Tuesday 7-3. The teams saw their third game of the day halted in the second inning, which they plan to finish this Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 -Â BOX SCORE
- The Wildcats got on the board first with four runs in the top of the second. Canton bounced back with two runs each in the second, third and fourth innings.
- In the second Jesus Garcia scored on a wild pitch and Ty Reed reached on an RBI fielder's choice scoring Nick Shoemaker.
- In the third Nathan Welch scored Jesse Iacovetta on a rare infield sacrifice fly. The left fielder and shortstop collided as the ball was caught, but Iacovetta showed some heads-up base running scooting home on the play. Canton tied it up at four when Garcia drove in Zach Miner on a double to the gap in right center.
- The fourth inning saw Miner double home Reed and Miner later score when Rodriguez reached on a fielding error by the shortstop.
- Following the conclusion of the fourth inning the game was halted due to rain and field conditions last Thursday in Canton. The teams resumed that contest today in Watertown.
- The Wildcats tied the game at 6-6 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.
- In a game originally scheduled for seven innings Canton went to work in extra innings as Reed struck out swinging but reached base beating the throw down to first. Iacovetta moved Reed over to second on a sacrifice bunt. Poly chose to intentionally walk Miner and Rodriguez hit his third homer of the season, a three-run shot in walk-off fashion.
- Zach Bates picked up the win tossing four innings in relief surrendering two earned runs with a strike out. Dylan Allen was credited with the no-decision allowing three earned runs with six strike outs and two walks in four innings.
- James Lynch took the loss allowing three earned runs with three strike outs and four walks in 3.1 innings.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- Both teams each scored two runs in the first inning. Nathan Welch brought home Miner on an RBI single and Reed followed with a base hit to plate Rodriguez.
- SUNY Poly added three runs in the second to open a 5-2 advantage after two innings.
- Canton got one back in the fourth inning as Rodriguez walked in Shoemaker.
- The Wildcats added a pair of insurance runs scoring one each in the fifth and sixth innings for the win.
- Dylan Sheely picked up his second win of the season for Poly throwing five innings giving up three earned runs with six strike outs and four walks. Ci'an Kenny was credited with the save tossing the final two innings allowing just a single hit and no runs with three strike outs and a walk.
- Kieran Gibson took the loss for the Roos throwing six innings giving up seven runs, but only three were earned. He walked three and struck out one.
- Miner paced the Roos going 2-for-3, while Welch was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Alexander Bonacci and Kyle Liddy supplied two hits and 2 RBI each for the Wildcats.
GAME 3 – STATS
- SUNY Poly scored one run in the bottom of the second inning. The teams plan to resume the game on Thursday where they left off in the bottom of the second.

These two teams are scheduled for one final doubleheader on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Game 3 from today will be resumed to start off the day.
